How I stay in the loop (newsletters & conferences I follow as of 2025)

These are the newsletters and conferences I follow and would recommend to my friends.

Remember, these are not “learning resources”. They simply help you stay in the loop and know “what’s up”.
I personally skim most of them, maybe read* 1 or 2 articles from each one.
(* More accurately, I add them to a “read it later” list/app and probably read them on the toilet.)

And, most importantly, remember nobody expects you to understand any of them.
Just knowing a thing exists (in the back of your mind) is enough. You can always revisit the concept/tool when you actually need it.

Notes:

• I have a separate inbox just for newsletters and websites that require a login.

• I delete each email after skimming it.

Non-dev

• Nick Kolenda
  About psychology, writing, and marketing (ahem, manipulation, ahem).

• NNGroup
  About UI/UX, like split buttons and mega menus.

Frontend dev

• 💜 Bytes by uidotdev
  About JS/webdev. Quirky tone.

• CSS Weekly
  About CSS, it has many demos. Mostly for inspiration.

Backend and beyond (may be overwhelming)

• Node Weekly
  Mostly about backend dev in Node/JS. It includes a few links about JS in general.

• 💜 Postgres Weekly
  Mostly about PostgreSQL and SQL in general. They sometimes compare new databases and share database-related articles/tools.

• InfoQ
  About software engineering in general: system design, devops, frameworks (e.g., Java, C#, Go, etc.), culture/leadership/mentorship, and cloud stuff.
  They cover big changes like new AI models and regulations. I like both their posts/newsletter and videos (conference talks on YouTube, see below).

These YouTube channels post conference talks on various dev topics, mostly “backend and beyond” kinda stuff.
